Informal debates

"Bars des sciences": informal evenings for meeting researchers and debating scientific issues.

Informal evenings, known as "bars des sciences" and so-called because they are usually held in a bar, are organised for meeting and debating with scientists on all kinds of current scientific issues. These meetings attempt to help bridge the gap which often exists between the scientific world and the public.

The researchers of the Centre of Clermont-Fd - Theix take part very regularly in these debates which are organized the first Tuesday of each month in Cournon, close to Clermont-Ferrand.

They participate each time the topics of the debates relate to their scientific field of competence. Between 1999 and 2005, 52 "bars des sciences" have been organized and INRA researchers have participated in about thirty of these.
